Friendship Celebration Choir
The two requirements for membership are an active faith on the singer’s part and a joyful, teachable spirit. It is also nice if the singer can match the tones vocally that the piano is playing. Formal tryouts have not been the norm.
At this point in our history, the choir sings for Holy Week services, and during the Christmas season we usually sing a cantata at least twice. Of course for special services, like the dedication of our new expansion, we learned various new anthems. We have sung for funerals on occasion and other special events like Confirmation. Rehearsals usually begin in mid -October for the Christmas season, with the men and women’s sectionals meeting separately, then in the month of December the joint choirs rehearse as the sanctuary space, need, and schedules allow. Depending on the date of Easter, the choir members begin to rehearse about six weeks before, or about the length of the Lenten season.
Anyone interested in joining the choir is encouraged to show up at rehearsals which are well publicized or by contacting Linda Hausch at .
