“Going to the Dogs” Thrivent Action Team Project The 2018 Pasadena Rose Parade theme “Making a Difference” will present the Lutheran Hour Ministries Float titled “Bringing Christ to the Nations.” One of the honored riders on this Float includes a comfort dog and handler who are also making a difference in ministry in the lives of others in distress. Celebrating five hundred years of the Lutheran Reformation, the lives of Martin and Katie Luther and their children are presented in “I Know a Little German (and her name is Katie)”, written by Linda Going Varnes. The Luther family dog, named Tolpel, was a comfort to Luther himself during his times of depression. Also available is a beginning German Bible study based on Paul’s Epistle to the Galatians. 100% of the donations towards these publications will be donated to the comfort dog training center at Peace Lutheran Church, Grand Island, Nebraska, thanks to a Thrivent Action Team Grant.
