Facts About Camp
CAMP HOURS: Weekdays from 8:30am-3:30pm for all age groups. Before Care and After Care will be available each day of camp from 7:00-8:30am & 3:30-6:00pm for an additional minimal fee of $15 per day or $50 per week.
WHAT IS SUMMER DAY CAMP? We care about families and youth here at Friendship Celebration Lutheran Church (FCLC). We provide a fun, safe, & Bible centered affordable alternative to daycare for those in our local community. Day Camp is for families that need care for their children every day of summer break, or for those who may only need a week or two (or even a day or two per week).
WHO CAN ATTEND? Preschool Day Camp is for ages 3-5 years of age (potty trained is required) and will have at least 2 counselors/teachers for every 12 campers. Summer Day Camp is for children who are at least 5 years old (by June 1st, 2021) through children who are going into 7th grade in the fall of 2021. Campers will be assigned to groups based on their grade and gender.
WHO ARE THE CAMP STAFF? The Camp Director is Brett Lindemood (Youth and Family Minister at FCLC), and the Program Director is Charlie Young (College Intern). The Day-Camp Staff includes preschool teachers and aids, other church staff members, college students, high school age counselors, and counselors assistants (7th and 8th graders). All staff have had background checks.
HOW MUCH DOES EACH WEEK COST? There is a one time $35 registration fee (non-refundable) per camper due upon registration in order to hold your spot. Normal registration for a week of camp is $140, but if you register before May 14th by 4:00pm (Early Registration Deadline) the Early Registration Rate is $120 per week. Daily Registration is available for $35 per day. In order to guarantee your camper’s spot for the week, registration and fees must be received prior to the beginning of that week or day of camp. Camp registration costs will only be refunded to you if you notify the Church office in writing of your cancellation. Your cancellation letter must be in the church office by the Friday of the prior week. Please note: the $35 registration fee is non-refundable.
LUNCH? Campers must bring their own lunch in a small lunchbox, cooler, or sack. Lunches will be gathered by grade and refrigerated. All lunches should be clearly labeled with the camper’s first name, last name, & grade level (2021/22 school year). If your child has a food allergy, their lunch will be stored separately.
SNACKS AND SNACK BAR? A morning and afternoon snack will be provided daily at no extra cost. During the afternoon snack time campers may purchase items (juice boxes, fruit snacks, assorted candy, water bottles, and soda). Most items are $0.50, but prices may vary. Campers are responsible for their own cash. (A great idea would be to pack a quarter or two in their lunch box).
WEEKLY EVENTS? Each Thursday we will have special themed days and events where we may suggest that the campers participate (this is voluntary) such as: Crazy Hair Day, Crazy Hat Day, Dress Up Day, etc… Friday, if the weather permits, will be a water day, please send them in a swim suit, with a towel and a change of clothes. We will be outside most days (unless there is a heat warning, or smoke warning). If we are not able to go outside, we may watch a movie for a special event with a rating of PG or lower. All camps will have an opening and closing with Bible devotions, songs and competition. Each week may also include sports, group games, archery, crafts, puppets, skits, snacks (peanut and nut-free), and a whole lot of FUN! Some weeks will have special events based on the theme.
SUNSCREEN? We will have sunscreen available, but please apply sunscreen on your camper(s) before they come to camp. If they need special sunscreen please make that known at drop off for the first day of camp and provide sunscreen for them for the week.
BEFORE/AFTER CARE? Before Care and After Care will be available each day of camp from 7:00am to 8:30am & 3:30pm to 6:00pm for an additional minimal fee of $15 per day or $50 per week. (See registration on reverse side for more information)
COVID CONCERNS? Last Summer (2020) we were able to run a successful 5 week summer camp and ended up adding a 6th week. We will continue to keep the same guidelines for this summer including:
1. Keeping the cabin groups separate throughout the day.
2. Alternating activities in order to clean in-between use.
3. Do as many outdoor activities as possible.
4. We added an outdoor washing station.
5. Our staff is following CDC guidelines for cleaning and sanitizing our building and equipment.
6. Our staff will have a health screening everyday of camp.
7. We will ask all of our families to self evaluate their health. We will do everything in our power to refund or prorate for those that miss camp due to illness.
HOW DO I SIGN UP?
