Summer Day Camp FAQS
WHAT IS SUMMER DAY CAMP? We care about families and youth here at Friendship Celebration Lutheran Church (FCLC). We provide a fun, safe, and Bible-centered alternative to daycare that is affordable for our community. Day camp is for families who need care for their children every day of summer break, just a few weeks of the summer, or just a few days a week.
WHO CAN ATTEND? Preschool camp is for ages 3-5 years of age (potty trained is a requirement) and will have at least 2 counselors/teachers for every 12 campers. Summer day camp is for campers ages 5(at least by June 1st, 2022) to children who are going into 6th grade for the 2022-23 school year.Campers will be assigned to their groups based on age and gender.
WHO ARE THE CAMP STAFF? The Camp Director is Charlie Young (Youth Ministry Coordinator atFCLC). The day camp staff includes preschool teachers, college leadership staff, high school counselors,and middle school camp assistants (7th and 8th graders).
HOW MUCH DOES EACH WEEK COST? There is a one time, non-refundable registration fee of $40 per camper in order to hold your spot. The normal registration for a camper is $150 for the week. However, if you register by June 1st at 2:30pm, you qualify for the early registration price of $130 per camper for the week. Daily registration is available for $40 per camper per day. The week of July 6th-8th is only a three day camp. Therefore, it will cost $100 for the week if registered after June 1. Early registration will cost $90. In order to guarantee your spot, registration fee(s) must be paid by the beginning of that week (or day) of camp. Camp fees will only be refunded if you notify the church office, in writing, of your cancellation. The church office must receive this written notice, at the latest, by the Friday before the week of camp in mind. Please note: The one time registration fee is good for the whole summer, and is non-refundable.
CAMP HOURS? Normal camp hours are 9am-3pm, Monday-Friday. Drop off is between 8:30-9am. Pick-up is between 3:00-3:30pm.
BEFORE AND AFTERCARE? For an additional $20 a day, or $50 per week, your camper can be dropped off as early as 7am, and picked up as late as 6pm.
LUNCH? Campers must bring their own lunch in a small cooler, lunch box, or sack. Lunches will be gathered by grade and refrigerated (if needed). All lunches should be clearly labeled with a first and last name, and grade level (for the 2022-23 school year). If your child has a food allergy, please alert camp staff during drop off so that we can store your child’s food separately, and proceed as deemed appropriate for your child’s allergy. Please make sure to pack your child a water bottle, labeled with their first name, last name, and grade level.
SNACKS AND SNACK BAR? Every morning and afternoon a balanced snack will be provided dail yat no extra cost.
During each lunch, campers will be given the opportunity to purchase a small treat/drink(candy, juice, small soda) from our snack shack.
WEEKLY EVENTS? Each Thursday we will have special themed that campers can choose to participate in. Themes include crazy hair, superhero day, sports merch day, etc. Every Friday, if weather permits, we will have a water day. Make sure to send your child to camp with a bathing suit, a towel, and a change of clothes. We will spend at least 2-3 sessions (45 minute periods) outside every day of camp,unless there is an excessive heat or smoke advisory.
All camps will have an opening/closing with Bible devotions, songs, and competitions. Each week may also include sports, group games, inflatables,archery, crafts, puppets, skits, snacks (peanut and nut free), and a whole lot of FUN! Each week will have special events based on the theme (science experiments, Lego build competitions, carnival day, etc.)
SUNSCREEN? We will have sunscreen available, but please apply sunscreen to your camper before arriving to camp. If they need special sunscreen, please let us know and drop it off for us.
Things to keep in mind
- You may pay through cash or check in person. However, you may also pay through the “donations” section on our website. There you will find a summer camp section where you can make specific donations to camp.
- You may register online by scanning your filled out registration form(s), and emailing it to , as well as
- Please consider downloading the “kidcheck” app and creating an account, if you have not already. We use this system to check campers in and out, keep track of allergies, who can pick up campers, etc. While it is possible to create an account during drop off, creating an account before hand will speed up the check in process.
- CONSTRUCTION. Chinden Blvd. will be experiencing construction this summer. We are unclear exactly when they will begin construction, as well as how long it will last. But we are expecting it. Keep this in mind when accounting for how much time it will take to pick up and drop off your camper(s), and please be safe while driving to or from the FCLC campus.
